Alyssa Gomez

A quote that inspires Alyssa is by author and social activist bell hooks: “For me, forgiveness and compassion are always linked: how do we hold people accountable for wrongdoing and yet at the same time remain in touch with their humanity enough to believe in their capacity to be transformed?”

Alyssa Gomez is a Reentry Coach at the Reentry Success Center. She is passionate about justice for marginalized communities. Alyssa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Chicana and Chicano Studies from San Jose State University. There she found many opportunities to read and research about the criminal justice system and its impacts on many communities, including her own family and friends. Growing up, Alyssa remembers attending reentry events at Barrios Unidos in Santa Cruz, which members of her family organized. Thus began her passion for helping justice impacted individuals. Alyssa is excited to continue her learning at the Reentry Success Center and is dedicated to self-improvement and community growth. The best way to reach her is by email.
